Playing with the D5000

Using the 18-55mm kit lens. Autofocus doesn't work well when the subject is essentially the same color as the background. In this case, a glass of Chardonnay on the deck rail with the woods behind.

As a result, flip the switch to manual.
Manual focus will also help with close ups of the flower, or of the deck rail.

The flower was in the shade, and I probably should have adjusted the exposure compensation.
