Nikon D5000 - Some Test Shots

Still playing with settings, buttons, dials, etc. With the VR kit lens, does a pretty good job with still stuff in low light conditions. This was taken around 8.20PM on 4/30, f5, ISO800, 34/51 mm (digital / 35mm conversion).

Saved as a "small" image using the retouch stuff, which I really haven't bothered to figure out yet.

I read someplace that your first 10,000 shots are always the worst. Certainly, from the composition point of view, these qualify. Only 9,996 to go!

From this morning - crab apple blossoms, f7.1, ISO 200, 55/82mm.

Also from this morning, some violets and weeds in the yard. f8.0, ISO 200, 55/82mm.

And here's what you get when you crank up the saturation to +3. f5.6, ISO 200, 55/82mm. There's less than a minute's difference between the two shots.
