Senator Feingold

Wants to spoil all of the fun, with a proposed constitutional amendment to end the ability of state governors to make appointments to open Senate seats.

If this had been in place, we would have missed out on the hijinks of “Pay Rod” Blagojevich. And the now budding feud between the Kennedys and Gov Patterson.

Perhaps we should repeal the 17 th amendment and simply push the entire senator thing back to the state legislatures. It would be more fun, and certainly couldn’t lead to much worse results.
