News from Auto Bailoutistan

There’s plenty of complicity in the ‘Big 3’ disaster, from management, to unions, to the government.

But does anyone really believe that the government can effectively ‘overhaul’ the industry in such a way as to make these companies viable? That some political appointees are going to make the UAW agree to major concessions? That meaningless and costly regulations are going to be repealed? That politically incorrect cars will be produced?

More than likely, it’s just going to be more of the same – politically driven mandates that increase costs, limit consumer choice, line the pockets of the union bosses, and generally make sure that whatever end product that emerges is less desirable than a used Yugo.
