China’s Big Olympics Breakthrough

If there’s one thing that police states do well, it’s stage huge rallies and events for public consumption. The least offensive part of this whole China flapdoodle is the faked fireworks and using a junior version of Milli Vanilli for the opening anthem.

The protest parks, on the other hand, are a bit of Orwellian genius. Set up three designated areas for protesters, but then require that the protesters register 5 days in advance of the protest, complete with lists of who is going to protest, the topic of the protest, and slogans to be used. The next step is for the communists to deny the protest, round up the listed protesters, and ship them directly to the gulag.

This is truly a breakthrough in bureaucratic police state efficiency.
