Culture of Corruption: Cuyahoga County Edition

Typical big city, one party story of graft, corruption, strip club managers on the payroll, etc., etc., etc.

Here’s an odd coincidence:

“Besides looking into Pumper and D-A-S, federal agents raided the offices of Blaze Construction in Berea and Doan Pyramid Electric in Bedford Heights, poring over the contents of file cabinets and carrying away boxloads of paperwork.

Blaze has handled more than $20 million in county highway
contracts since 1998 and became a strong contributor to the Democratic Party. Doan Pyramid did work at Russo's home under the name Northeast Ohio Electric, according to building permits.”

Whether you can prove bribery or not – and given some of the details in the article, it may not be that much of a stretch – having a “strong contributor” to the Democratic party get $20 million in contracts over 10 years certainly smells a lot like “pay to play”.

It’s not quite up to MarcDannimal HouseDann standards yet, but it’s still early.
