More Widowfield

The Beacon provides follow up on yesterday’s resignation.

Just to attempt to clarify yesterday’s post –

I’m not opposed to scalping football tickets. Entertainment arbitrage should be like any other business. I don’t think that this constitutes fraud in any real sense, though election finance law seems specifically designed to be too complicated to comply with.

The Widowfield ticket trauma is more stupid than corrupt. Still, it fits into the general theme of clueless Republican stumblebums. You can argue about media bias all you want, but a first rational step would be to stop generating material for the media to use.

What is discouraging is that in a difficult climate for Republicans, Arshinkoff turned a reasonable prospect for re-electing a Republican to county council into something that looks increasingly iffy.

Why not take a page from the Democratic playbook – once they realized the extent of the Dann mess, they took steps to get rid of Dann and start to limit the Dannage, to both the party and Ohio. I also suspect that the Democrats are going to look pretty closely at the records of folks running under their banner for major offices for the next several election cycles.

Sure, no election finance complaints have been filed. Yet. Not to worry; we’ll likely see some action on this closer to November, assuming that Widowfield doesn’t throw in the towel.
