Coughlin v Arshinkoff – Let the Bickering Continue

I’m sure that Wayne Jones and company secretly love this whole mess – while it’s got to be irritating to have to sit through A2’s tantrums at these meetings, from a Democratic perspective, this is strictly a win-win.

If A2 remains in power, the ensuing purges will cripple the summit Republicans, possibly for years, after which, Arshinkoff will go back to his proven strategy of trying to hang on to some minor positions with some patronage while not seriously contesting any major race.

If Coughlin wins, the ensuing purges will cripple the summit Republicans, possibly for years, but eventually someone may show an interest in, or knack for, building a competitive party able to run decent candidates across the slate.

At the end of the day, Wayne Jones probably doesn’t much care who triumphs. Given the analysis above, he’s more likely to favor A2 than not, and only has an interest in prolonging the bickering, backstabbing, and turmoil as long as possible.
