$65,000 Fines

Seems about right. Teacher Nate Turner takes a group of high school students to Cuba. I doubt that it was to investigate any of the seamier sides of the People’s Paradise – the political prisoners, the squalid conditions, the cult of Castro, jailed librarians and journalists.

Yup, according to the New York Post, we have a trip lead by a member of the cult of Che, a full fledged member of the “tyrant’s apologists’ club”. I’m sure that he often mentions Che’s fondess for executing political opponents.

“Turner, 35, a popular teacher whose classroom walls, students said, are adorned with posters of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro and Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara, declined to comment.

‘I don't know anything about the trip because it wasn't school-sponsored. I only care about the trips that go through the school,’ [principal Ruth] Lacey said. ‘This, to me, would be an
outrage if it happened.’

But the trip was advertised on the school's Web site in the fall. And a list of 30 students selected in November to take the journey and to attend preparation classes for it could be found on its Web site last week.”

Gotta love the principal claiming to not know what was going on. Perhaps she's in the running to be the next attorney general.
