George Will on Corporate Speech

Tends, I think, to overstate the link between McCain-Feingold and the “Employee Free Choice Act”.

Certainly, there’s a degree to which McC-F legitimizes speech restrictions – after all, the point of the act was to shut people up before elections. In general, the press remains deeply skeptical of free speech for anyone other than members of the press.

Unions, on the other hand, not only want to shut employers up, they want to create a sham process to force unionization and revenues for the union bosses. Coincidentally, this also translates into money for the Democratic party.
