How do I know? Simple – Look for the MSM’s annual bout of anti-Christian “debunking”. Like a dog returning to its vomit, we have the annual spectacle of attempted debunking of the Christian faith. E.g., the Gospel of Judas, etc. etc. Blah, blah, blah. .
This year’s entry, from Time Magazine: James Cameron’s “discovery” of Jesus’ tomb.
Memo to Jim: Making the Terminator and Titanic movies may not qualify you to interpret caskets from 2,000 years ago. Will this stir up a big debate in between the Church and the Skeptics?
No, because he won’t have any evidence. Essentially he’s going to come out with a press conference in which he reveals that a crypt with 10 caskets bearing common Jewish names have…. The buried remains of Jews in them. Shocking!
But wait! He’s got DNA to prove it! Just whose DNA, nobody knows, since there are not a big group of easily identified descendants of Jesus.
Hey Jimbo – when you’re done with that tomb business, I’ve got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell ya! Or how ‘bout some swamp in Florida? Or perhaps Geraldo can recycle his documentary on Al Capone’s vaults?
Actually, since Cameron’s intent is to bolster the ratings for his ‘documentary’, the real suckers are elsewhere.
Hey baby – the Tomb is still Empty. The Apostles were not martyred in vain. Had the tomb not been empty, they would have recanted.
Update (26 Feb 07): Well, it’s not taking long for this story to fall apart. See Ed Morrissey, or The Anchoress.
