Roger Scrunton

On Islamofascism.

With the silence, denial, and defensiveness accompanying each new actual or attempted atrocity, the window for non-violent Muslims to distance themselves from the terrorists closes a bit.

As that happens, and as people become persuaded that not only can’t their governments protect them, but lack the will to seriously attack the problem, we’ll see ugly situations like this one turn even worse.

Well ordered societies rarely have problems with vigilantism. Societies pervaded by fear are ripe for it.
