Peggy Noonan

On Lieberman – Lamont:

“There's another thing he [Lieberman] has going for him, and it's the flip side of insiderism. He's a grownup. He's not an angry kid. When America gets in trouble, and everyone thinks more trouble is coming, you want grownups around. In this, Mr. Lieberman is in sharp relief to Mr. Lamont's supporters.”
So, now the Democrats are facing the quandary outlined here. In addition, I can’t see the national party putting much cash or campaign time into Lamont, or having Lieberman stripped of his committee assignments. It’s just too risky if Joe-mentum pulls out a win in the general as an independent.

If he does, he’ll be more moralizing and insufferable than ever…
